The Northernmost inhabited settlement with the Northernmost hotel, pharmacy, airport with regular flights, operating coal mines, even brewery are all in a magical almost mythical place: Svalbard, an island which is only a bit more than 1.000 kms from the North Pole. Svalbard or Spitsbergen has been for many a challenging place to discover. For others it has been one of the most difficult places to work. Nowadays it open slowly to tourism, although the number of happy visitors is very low. Join us for a trip along its fjords, abandoned coal mines, discover the history of the Soviet settlements. Photos, books, maps, videos will be shown.
For those who have extra time, after the presentation, the promised documentary film "Galapagos affair" will be screened bringing light to the strange disappearances in Floreana of Galapagos. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2960450/.
The Travellers Club Baku is a network of "travellers" who want to share experiences, memories, pictures, flavours of travels to neighbour and distant countries ...
Each "traveller" who joins the network can become promoter of a destination, telling experiences, presenting ideas and materials collected during his/her travels.
The network has a virtual platform on Facebook, where anyone can join and on which each "traveller" can write his/her own travel notes. The main aim of the Travellers Club in Baku is to promote Culture in its broadest sense, sharing the cultural baggage that we carry with us when we return from a trip, this becoming messengers of peace and tolerance.
